Current Law Student and Graduate Internship and Fellowship Opportunities at LAF:
LAF views providing education and support to law students and graduate fellows as part of our mission. Each year we host dozens of law students and recent grads in each of our practice groups. We view this as an opportunity to increase our capacity to serve people in need, nurture a relationship with future attorneys, and foster an environment of service.
During the summer, LAF hosts over thirty interns and fellows from law schools across the country. For ten-weeks these students intern full time and perform a variety of duties depending on their experience level and the needs of a particular practice group. These duties include client interviews and case investigation; memoranda and brief writing; drafting of pleadings and judgments; court representation as a 711; direct representation at administrative hearings; and legal research. LAF also accepts students for the spring and fall semester who are available to commit to 10 hours per week for the full semester.
LAF will consider law students for positions based upon the student’s application and upon LAF’s workload and space constraints. We accept applications from students seeking academic credit, those who have funding, and volunteers.
In addition to LAF’s law student internship program, LAF hosts a number of graduate fellows throughout the year.
